Stansted Airport Employment and Skills Academy was founded to help people of all ages and backgrounds to upskill and find their perfect job at the airport. The Academy is under direct management of Manchester Airports Group (MAG), who own and operate London Stansted Airport, and is run in partnership with Harlow College.
The on-site facility is a one-stop for anyone interested in upskilling and on-site vacancies and provides free and tailored aviation training programmes to enable job seekers to gain relevant skills, and secure employment with one of more than 200 on-site employers.
The Academy learners receive unique support when applying for roles following the programme, including CV and mock interview workshops. The Academy team also provides free training programmes to all existing on-site employees keen to upskill and progress their careers within the aviation sector.
London Stansted Airport served 28 million passengers in 2019 (pre pandemic), making it the third busiest airport in London and the fourth busiest in the UK.
The airport also ranked among the 25 busiest in Europe in 2018. With 200 destinations across 40 countries, it is a market leader for short-haul travel across Europe and serves more scheduled connections to Europe than any other UK airport.
It also has daily flights to Dubai with Emirates' allowing passengers to access the airline's global network of over 150 destinations. A major cargo hub, the airport ships goods worldwide, including to the Far East and the USA. Stansted has the highest public transport use of any airport in the UK and is among the best in Europe.
With over 12,000 employees working for 200 companies, it is the largest single-site employer in the East of England.
The Academy provides a free recruitment service to all on-site partners.
