Stansted Airport has an exciting opportunity for a proactive a Health & Safety (H&S) professional! We are seeking an enthused individual to provide expert guidance to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all airport users is paramount and that all statutory responsibilities are maintained. This role is broad in scope and the successful candidate to work with multiple stakeholders, including MAG and 3rd parties.

The Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive leadership and expert advice on health, safety and welfare to Airport Senior Managers, including interpreting safety related law to ensure legal compliance
  • Develop, maintain and deliver a dynamic, risk based health and safety strategy
  • Promote ownership, responsibility and accountability of safety within line management structures, ensuring compliance with company policy & procedures to achieve timely, effective and visible management of safety
  • Improve safety expertise to ensure levels of knowledge, skills and understanding are available within teams and develop appropriate training to support this
  • Promote full involvement of all employees in the effective achievement of a safe workpla
  • Encourage a consistent, proactive approach to safety, positively influencing third party activities
  • Identify and support investigation of significant incidents and provide professional advice to managers responsible for accident investigation.
  • Identify root causes and preventative strategies to achieve a reduction in safety risk and to facilitate this learning to reduce the losses arising from incidents and accidents                      


The successful candidate will have proven experience as a Health & Safety professional (ideally from an operational environment) with a track record of delivering business objectives. As a H&S expert, you will ideally have a relevant Nebosh or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety) qualification and be committed to your personal development. Communication skills are vital and you should have excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills, alongside the ability to analyse information to determine effective solutions.
