The Role:

To provide 24x7 support of MAG data networks to ensure a high quality of service to our customers by application of best practice in technical skills and processes.  Responding to incident notifications and effecting improvements and change to an enterprise class network.

  • Working on a shift pattern, be part of a team responsible for the support of the airports critical data networks.
  • Through the change process, be available for out of hours work needed to develop and maintain the LAN / WAN, Wireless Network and security infrastructure.
  • Following the ITIL process, respond to and fix all LAN / WAN LAN / WAN, Wireless Network and security infrastructure faults using established best practice and standard for the completion of all known incidents and problems, providing 2nd line technical referral to external customers wherever necessary.
  • Perform analysis on core network devices to determine baselines, bottlenecks and forecasts for capacity planning, using available tools to proactively monitor the state of the data networks.
  • Along with the Network Support Team Leader, Network Project Analyst and Network & Infrastructure Manager, working with Project Managers, play a key role in projects requiring change and development to the airport’s data network, focusing on the technical aspects of design and implementation.
  • Responsible for the configuration of network devices and their deployment into the production LAN /WAN, Wireless Network and security infrastructure. Performing detailed risk analysis for any configuration changes needed to devices on the live environment.
  • Maintain a high level of support documentation, detailing the current design, topology and support mechanisms to help improve resolution times.
  • Complete a regular configuration backup for all core devices and help build a complete contingency solution, making sure that all recovery procedures are understood and available.



  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Cisco network support role.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of network topologies and troubleshooting.
  • Good technical knowledge of TCP/IP, Multilayer Switching and Routing.
  • A good understanding of network analysis; experience in PRTG & Logicmonitor preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of Wide Area Networking technologies, preferably MPLS.
  • Experience of Aruba Wireless LAN technology preferred.
  • Experience in firewall configuration and troubleshooting
  • Excellent technical knowledge of network topologies and troubleshooting.
  • Good technical knowledge of TCP/IP, Multilayer Switching and Routing.
  • Broad knowledge of Wide Area Networking technologies, preferably MPLS.

Technical Qualifications/Background

  • Minimum A’ Level qualification
  • Cisco CCNA accreditation would be beneficial
  • A good understanding of ITIL Service Management best practice, preferably holding an ITIL foundation certificate
  • A good understanding of IT Project Management best practice
