We currently have opportunities to join our Soft Services Team in Stansted as a Cleaning Operative.  Cleaning Operatives are a critical part of the operation and key to our success. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the terminal is clean 24/7 365 days a year whilst Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to.

To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate strong customer focus, carrying out duties in a professional and courteous manner. Strong attention to detail is a must, as you will be required to use a variety of equipment in a controlled and safe manner. As part of this role there may be times in which you will engage with the customers therefore a basic level of spoken English is essential.

What does the role of a Cleaning Operative involve?

  • To provide a clean Terminal 24/7 365 days a year to ensure our customers always receive and excellent customer experience
  • Ensure the successful day to day delivery of cleaning and waste away in the allocated area of responsibility
  • Provide the highest level of service within their area of responsibility in line with the agreed standards
  • Respond positively, politely and promptly to all customers and carry out duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • To ensure COSHH and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and any incidents are reported in line with procedures.
  • Be responsible for providing support to all areas within the Soft Services delivery such as (but not restricted to) roadside and airside litter picking, wasteaway functions, plant and engineering facilities and office cleaning
  • Ensure timely fault reporting of any asset failures
  • Be responsible for the smooth operation of relevant equipment reporting any maintenance issues in line with procedures.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

We are looking for team players with an enthusiastic approach, can-do attitude, and a knowledge of cleaning chemicals and disposal methods. Other skills required include:

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning such as using electronically powered scrubbing / polishing / vacuuming machines to scrub, polish, spray and clean floors
  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously
  • Basic level of spoken English required to understand safety instructions and liaise with customers
