We’ve been voted Book Retailer of the Year 2019 in the British Book Awards. If you’re as passionate as us about books and have a natural ability to provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service, a WHSmith Bookseller position in our busy Stansted Airport stores could be perfect for you.
For these positions, we are looking for candidates who would be able to work 30 hours on a 5 out of 7 basis. Shift patterns would involve working weekends, and covering early and late shifts.
What you’ll do?
You’ll get our Stansted Airport customers’ journey off to the best start by giving them an exceptional experience. Whether they’re rushing to catch an important business flight, jetting off on a romantic holiday or flying somewhere to have fun with family & friends, you’ll make sure they leave with the perfect travel read. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do so, for our Booksellers, nothing’s too much effort. That means you’ll be actively approaching customers and building strong relationships through your passion of books. As well as sharing details on our book clubs and any of the great offers we might have, you’ll also ensure our books are displayed as they should be throughout the store, including keeping our book charts up to date. No matter what you’re doing, you’ll pull together with your team mates so that our customers leave wanting to come back.
What’s in it for you?
We’re a company that values its people, so we’ve created a range of shifts to help find one that’s right for you, whether you’re full or part-time. If you’re an early bird, or a night owl, we can accommodate for your lifestyle. For those who want to progress, this could be the start of a whole new career. We’d love you to grow with us, so you’ll have access to training opportunities to help fulfil your potential. Don’t forget, while you’re with us you’ll also benefit from; up to 50% discount in your own store and all our High Street Stores, tax/duty free shopping, flexible working, childcare vouchers and much more.
Who we’re looking for
Experience in a Bookseller environment would be advantageous to the role, however a background in customer-focused positions is also sufficient. Most importantly, we’re looking for people who are truly passionate about books, great listeners, naturally helpful, and who have a healthy dose of ambition. You will be able to demonstrate a broad reading background with a good awareness of contemporary bestsellers and be able to talk confidently about both.
Voted Book Retailer of the Year 2019 in the British Book Awards! For most of the last 225 years, books have played an integral part in the history of WHSmith. We’ve been there to see the likes of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters and Leo Tolstoy make their mark on literature, and we continue to be enthralled and surprised by writers of the 21st century such as J. K. Rowling, Yuval Noah Harari, David Walliams and Haruki Murakami.
